9 October 2007 EWAG Delivers Milestone Machine at EMO
The delivery of its 3,000th high-precision WS 11 tool grinding machine was a milestone that EWAG AG was able to celebrate at EMO Hannover 2007. Presentation of the noteworthy machine to the customer Nivarox-Far S.A. took place during the metalworking trade fair on September 19. The theme of the presentation was supplied by Ian Fleming’s—and Hollywood’s—Goldfinger. The milestone WS 11 machine was publicly presented to the customer as a special golden edition by a James Bond figure in a cloud of smoke, while a singer performed the title song from the 1960s motion picture. Nivarox-Far, based in Fontaines, Switzerland, belongs to the Swatch Group and manufactures the regulators for most clocks and watches produced in Switzerland, including the James Bond watch brand, Omega. The company produces around 470,000 components every day, all of them high-precision mechanical parts for timepiece movements or faces. The WS 11 universal grinding machine is suitable for producing and finish-grinding highly accurate small tools and production pieces made of carbide, steel, and other materials. The machine’s kinematics allows cylindrical and conical tools to be ground and measured in a clamping system.
