Sescoi Software Performs at Micronora

This watch casing was machined with WorkNC at the Micronora microtechnology trade fair.

Visitors to Micronora, the international microtechnology show held in late September in Besançon, France, had an opportunity to see the WorkNC automatic CAD/CAM system from Sescoi in action. Sescoi and its partners Makino and Hitachi Tool Engineering ran live machining demonstrations on the Makino stand during the show.

Visitors saw the micromachining of a watch casing part in 45NiCrMo16 a 54-HRc material. The part was modelled and programmed in WorkNC. WorkNC engineers explained how trochoidal roughing, precise rest material detection, and WorkNC’s enhanced finishing and 3D engraving routines combined to produce the high-quality part while extending tool life.

In addition to the milling activity on the Makino stand, visitors to Micronora could observe demonstrations of WorkXPlore 3D at the Sescoi stand. This high-speed collaborative viewer, which received the Productivity Excellence Award at the Industrie 2008 show, is being used by French mould makers such as Georges Pernoud, a company that reports that its data handling and quoting times have been cut by as much as half.

WorkXPlore 3D can quickly import large models from a wide variety of CAD systems. Engineers can interrogate, analyze, and mark up model data and share this within and outside the company in an easy, lightweight format and without the expense and complexity of running multiple CAD systems. The system helps engineers to optimize design and manufacture and shorten time-to-market through concurrent working.

A free version of WorkXPlore 3D can be downloaded from www.workxplore-3d.com.
