8 August 2003 New Federation in Canada Will Work on Common Issues
The Canadian Association of Moldmakers (CAMM), the Canadian Tooling & Machining Association (CTMA) and the Canadian Pattern-Modelmakers Association (CPMA) are signing an official agreement that will create the Canadian Machine, Tool, Die and Mould Federation (Canadian MTDM Federation). The new organization will be the voice for the machine, tool, die and mold industry, and will align itself with other associations within Canada's industrial structure. As a single voice, the Federation will address industry-wide issues. The member Associations will fund the Federation and will be governed by a Board of Directors with representation from each of the member associations. The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) Mould Makers Council has signed a "memorandum of understanding" to work with the Federation. CAMM, CTMA and CPMA will continue to operate as individual associations and account for more than 400 member companies. The overall MTDM industry in Canada has an annual output worth C$3.4 billion (about US$2.5 billion) with over half of this value representing export sales.
