Engis Continues to Boost UK Presence,
Moves into High-Tech New Site

Engis (UK) Ltd. is putting the finishing touches on its recently strengthened international operations. With major advances in new finishing techniques developed at its parent site in Wheeling, Illinois, and manufacturing facilities in Japan and South Korea, Engis Corp. has entered a new phase of expansion into the arenas of nanotechnology and micromanufacturing, with Europe—and especially the UK—seen as a key market for the leading-edge products from these emerging technologies.

This latest expansion comes after Engis (UK) Ltd. relocated to a high-tech new site in Henley-on-Thames, Oxon. Engis (UK) has improved its customer support and inventory management after installing IT facilities and has put into place a new sales team with specialist skills that includes Paul Kingscott, who has an extensive knowledge of lapping technology, and Mark Foster, who has a background in diamond technology and engineering.

"We've put together a really strong team with the necessary infrastructure to deliver market-leading products to the customers," says John Wellings, who has been managing director since early 2002. "Naturally, the development of Engis (UK) is ongoing. We're currently completing a project to install an on-site process development laboratory at the Henley facility, concentrating particularly on wafer processing and precision bore finishing."
